Ali Beg Resort, nestled within Soran's central district under the Soran Independent Administration, is situated 106 km from Erbil's center. Elevated at 2125 meters above sea level, it stands as one of the most captivating summer destinations in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. Positioned between Mount Korrek and Bradost, this 12 km long resort is elevated at 800 meters above sea level. Summer temperatures peak at 31°C, while winter can plummet to -10°C. The confluence of two rivers, one from the Alan Valley of Khalifan district and another originating from Rwanduz district, gives birth to the Bekhala and Zey Gowra rivers. The resort boasts a large lake, accompanied by several smaller ones. With its mountainous terrain and diverse flora, it attracts numerous visitors, especially from central and southern Iraq, during the summer.
Kani Maran, a picturesque area within Soran's central district, lies to the city's west. Hassan Beg Mountain, towering in Soran's northeast and part of the central district's jurisdiction, ranks among the region's tallest and most appealing mountains. Adventurers can embark on a motorcycle journey from its base to the summit. Its cool climate makes it a popular sightseeing spot during the summer.
Zozk Mountain, located in southern Kurdistan and under the governance of Soran's central district, offers panoramic views. Its expansive facade overlooks the central areas of both Soran and Rwanduz districts, while its elevated front provides a vantage point over the Barzeway Balakaity village. The mountain's rear is flanked by the villages of Sitkan and Hassan Beg Mountain. Rising to an altitude of 1892 meters, Zozk Mountain experiences significant temperature drops in winter, making it a challenging terrain blanketed with snow. This has transformed it into a sought-after winter tourist spot.
